I use T-Mobile for my mobile phone, but they are expensive and I would like to change to Asda, who have been recommended to me as very good. I would like to keep the same handset and number, if possible.

Can anyone tell me how to go about it, please?

Thanks.

Hi mrs c, you can request your Mac number? from T-Mobile to go to another provider so you will be able to keep your number, ring their CS on your free call for TM, 150.
When does your T-Mobile contract end?
ps, keeping the same handset from TM tho' you would have to have it unblocked, there lots of places which do this for you now

Thanks Joy. I was hoping I could do it without actually speaking to them, but if that's what I have to do, I'll do it.

McM, I'm not even sure I have a contract .... I have had the phone for a few years now, it's a pay as you go.
MAC codes are for broadband, not mobile phones, it's a PAC code you need for mobiles.

this tells you what to do..

arghhh Chuck of cause ..:o(

Thanks Chuck, I'll have a look. (Hope its the idiot's guide .... ) [:o)
hi mrs chappie,
ive just moved to asda myself recently.
yes, as already mentioned, youll need to get intouch with 02 for a PAC so you can keep your existing telephone number.
my phone was locked, but vodafone very kindly emailed me a brief procedure as to what to do with various codes and button pushing, to enable me to unlock the phone so i can use it with asda.
all i had to do was wait until my contract ended with vodafone (midnight 22nd july) i then rang asda with the PAC who gave me a port date, this is a date that you will be moved from o2 over to asda with your existing number, it usually takes 48 hours.
once its all completed, you just need to ring them back on 2732 to register your details with them and they will talk you through various things and answer any questions you might have.
i found their call centre staff very helpful and friendly.
calls are 8p a min and texts are 4p each - so not bad really eh!
good luck :o)

Well, I failed miserably. [:o(

I rang T-Mobile and asked for the PAC code. It transpires that the phone's registered in my hubby's name (was originally his phone but I took it when his employer supplied him with one) and they won't give anyone else except him the code.

Thanks very much, loooby, for all that info - very kind of you. It looks like I'm gonna have to get the husband to ring them .... he hates talking on the phone though. [;o(
Question Author
Loooby - is the 8p charge only if you are ringing another Asda phone? (the same network).
mrs c, its ringing any mobile network and landline
Question Author
Wow loooby, that's good value. I'm pretty sure I'm paying 25p a minute to mobiles.
good savings for you then if that was the case! :o)

To be honest, I hardly use my mobile. I'm not one for chatting on it - just make the occasional quick call here and there. Still think it's worth swapping over though - just wish I wasn't so thick when it comes to technology. [;o(
well ''every lil helps'' as they say .. ooh wrong supermarket! lol
