I thought a broth was a soup.
Depends which country you live in. North America Broth = Stock -a clear liquid flavored with meat or veg. In Uk especially Scotland, Broth = a clear soup with the addition of cut up veg, pulses and grains and sometimes meat. I think Broth always has a clear base, no cream or pureed veg, where soup can be pureed, creamed or have potatoes for thickening.
is it only a broth when it is made in Scotland/
And then there is consommé....
Good old Lancashire has broths and like Scotland, broth-els.
