What is so great about Deal or No Deal?

The question says it all really. The number of people I have encountered who say that it is good is truly quite astounding for what seems to me to be a cr*p show. The value placed in each box is completely random yet still I have heard Noel Edmonds say "Let this be a low one..." etc. It is just a game of chance isn't it...or am I missing something?

Basically it is a game of chance, but it's fab!! The suspense of not knowing whether they've picked a good box or not is huge!! And the banker/edmonds converstations are hilarious at times! I also kind of watch it for the comedy value - the bit where they all hold hands is hysterical - like it's going to change what's in the box!!!!
I watched it once and for that 30 minutes (or whatever it was) it held my interest. But can't see myself going out of the way to watch it again.
I also watched it once, when I was dog sitting for someone. I began to lose the will to live after about ten minutes, but watched it till the end in the hope that something would happen to make me want to watch it again. All that happened was that I got sore cheeks from clenching my buttocks with embarassment that people could be so taken in by a game of pure chance that they have no control over. Its not as though they have to remember where the big amounts were - no-one ever knows!
I TOTALLY AGREE. I`ve never seen such crap. I`ve watched 1 programme & could n`t believe that people would want to sit & watch it. Bring back the test card, that was more interesting.
