upset with psychic reading

I paid a lot of money last week for a 15 minute psychic reading over the phone. My mom said that he was very good and the testimonials on his website looked promising. Well I was very disapointed with the reading. First of all when he started he listed 3 names that he said were around me. I had never heard of any of them. He couldnt pick out the name of the guy I'm in love with I had to tell him his name and his birthday before he could tell me anything. He was rude and was rushing the reading. I asked him if I would end up with the guy I love and he said no; he didnt love me and to cut off all contact with him forever. Then he rudely said "goodbye" instead of saying "thankyou for letting me do a reading but I have to go".

I can't believe how rude he was. Do you think he could pick up that I didnt like him? And why would he say such horrible things about the guy I like? I didnt take his advice to cut off all contact with my guy either- I thought it was mean advice.

Sorry, but I just don't believe that these people are genuine. The words con and artist spring to mind.

Sounds like a bunch of you know what, if ya ask me.

I love the idea, and I think people do have special abilities, but this guy sounds full of it. Plus it's totally unprofessional of him to tell you to cut of all ties with your boyfriend. Psychics arnt supposed to tell you exactly what decisions to make, they're supposed to guide you and open your eyes a bit. Don't listen to that crap for a second. If he knew what he was doing he would have approached the whole situation differently. So don't think about for another second ;)

I believe there are genuine ones out there but this guy sounds totally UNgenuine,he would never have came out with that tone if he was real,put it down to experience.

All these people are what has already been said - conmen! If possible try and put it out of your mind and please don't ever be tempted to try this again, no matter who says you should. This is getting money under false pretences and it's about time these practices were outlawed. Concentrate on your lovely man and your life together - this is what's important.

i had a very similar problem with a one of these readings. I would reccomend tarot cards to anyone interested in that sort of thing. I am devoted to my set (cat-people tarot) i find them accurate, and very helpful. But its not for everyone i guess. x

I think this sort of stuff is nonsense, but my aunt is a believer and I've been quite worried about some of the things she has been told. My aunt is childless due to the fact that her husband kept telling her he wanted children 'later' and then walked out on her when she was 35. She went to see this (respected) tarot card reader and they said that they could see a dead baby which was the baby she was supposed to have. They just kept saying that a spirit woman was standing in the room with my aunt holding a lifeless baby. Of course, my aunt was very distressed by the whole experience.

Another (supposedly) psychic person told her if she wanted to meet another man she needed to read out this prayer at a certain time of the day. Of course, it hasn't worked. I can't help thinking that if my aunt got out more and developed more interests she might have more luck meeting a man!

I do find it amazing how many people I have met who allow psychics/tarot readers/whatever to make all their decisions for them.

rescuer, you've earned your alias. That's a fine answer. There are some books on 'cold reading' (not the actor's term, the charlatan's) that are also enlightening. But really they just add up to what you just did in your reply, only, you did it in a nice way.
