how do i get a teenager to keep clean? i have a 13 year old who i have to remind to shower every day- if i don't 5 days can pass without washing! clean clothes is a nightmare too. bedroom is grubby. doesn't like brushing teeth or anything. i have tried grounding,withdrawing pocket money,no friends round- i'm at my wits end! i'm talking 13 year old daughter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! help.

spudqueen is right, one day you're nagging them to do basic hygiene at the very least, next day they're locked in the bathroom for hours preening.

make sure she happy, at school etc...when i was very unhappy about that age i went for about a month or so without brushing hair, not showering etc...my dad picked me up in the end and physically put me in bath clothes and shoes included cuz i'm smelt really bad...

Leave her to go to school. Teenagers are harsh and will soon tell her what she smells like. That should teach her.

teenagers arghhhhhhhh lol, don't worry to much she'l grow out of it, buy her her own deodarant and perfume, and get her some bath items in her fav colours etc, how about letting her choose a new decor for her bedroom and accessories this might give her the incentive, good luck at 13 your troubles have only just begun, ive got 2 daughters 14 and 16 i'm sure i wasn't like the teenagers are today, but then my mum gets that twinkle in her eye when ever i have a moan to her about the daily new problem lol.

thank you for all your answers. she's not unhappy in any way and gets her own deoderant,perfume etc. she hasn't got a boyfriend yet so things might change. i just think she's down right bloody lazy! here's to the next 5 years! i have a 10 yearold daughter who is the complete opposite-thank God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi.

I have a 14 year old son who I used to have to remind to have a wash, he would have a shower and always forget to wash his hair, so I would have to knock on the door to remind him to wash his hair whilst in the shower.

Now its a different story (since finding girls) and he showers twice a day and is always in the mirror fixing his hair. He even uses the car door windows to check he is looking just so. LOL

His room would be dreadful if left to him but I do make him tidy it and at least make his bed every day.

Teenagers are very tiring cause you feel you are almost going back to them being a toddler, having to remind them to do the smallest of tasks that once they did without a problem.

i have a 14year old son and he was incredible. If he HAD to wash his face he would do so using just his fingertips, circling his cheeks!!!! What a nightmare, however, there is hope for you papigo, you gradually notice that they start grooming a bit more, you know, showering without having to be begged, using deodorant, hair gel, and now my son won't go out of the house without his double slplash of Lacoste aftershave!!!!! YIPEEEEEEEEEEE we got there in there end although,there is still some room for improvement Good luck, when it does happen, she'll drive you nuts always hogging the bathroom!

Sounds very much like a typical teenager.

I have a 15 year old son who we had to keep reminding to wash..tidy up..put on clean things etc,but as others have said as soon as he discovered girls,everything changed..now can't go anywhere near him without getting overpowered by aftershave etc....lol
