This book is by Adele Geras, and I was just wondering does anyone now how to pronounce the following names?


Laertes


Ikarios


Leodes

Laertes = lay-ert-eez - stress on 'ert'

Ikarios might be ik-are(as in car) -ree-oss - stress on 'are' and 'oss'

Not sure about the others.

SaxyJag - in Modern Greek the stress on "Ikarios" is probably more likely to be on the final syllable - though without any diacritic markings it's impossible to tell. I agree, though, that in English usage the stress is likely to fall on the second syllable. Sorry to be a pedant! :-)
