Well, well, well......

All this just a week or so after 'UKIP Chaos', eh?

http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question1395100-3.html#answer-9522730

Looking forward to the loony lefties choking on their cornflakes as the try to spin their way out of the writing on the wall that Farage was reading, along with the NHS's top doctor who said the same, to which no one could give a credible response.

Off you go, chaps......

Ukip chaos was over current policymaking, and among current candidates, not involving Blairite ex-ministers now kicked upstairs.
To paraphrase Lord Darzi's argument:
"OK, let's forget about what's Labour Party policy. Let's forget about what's Tory party policy. Let's not bother about what the Lib-Dems have to say on the matter. Let's ignore the Green party and forget about UKIP's views on the NHS. Instead of all that lot, let's simply decide upon what actually works best (irrespective of who supports it or objects to it) and then go ahead and actually do it".

That sounds like a good idea to me but (because it rejects ALL political ideologies) I can't envisage ANY politician actually going along with it!
Hiving ones responsibilities out to someone else, is always questionable. For larger companies and governments it is probable insanity. Control is considerably reduced, loopholes in the contract can ensure no quick fix. Besides external bodies should not be in a position to do things cheaper and make a profit so one should work out how such a body achieves that. Probably by cutting corners, quality, or underpaying.
(Originally posted under 'UKIP chaos' instead :-) )
Oh. I thought the Labour Party had turned on Mr Burnham and Mr Miliband for advocating saving the NHS from unaccountable privatisation.
Then I realised it wasn't true :-)
Lord Darzi might want SERCO running our hospitals . He may even be paid by them for all I know but the fact is he's not a current member of the shadow cabinet nor is he speaking for the party. Typical Blairite in fact :-)
In any case what he isn't saying is not that revolutionary. No one would argue with the idea that you should try to get the best possible care, but the other side to that is that you should not place the entire health of the nation in the hands of profiteers. It's not as if the private sector has a great track record of handling the courts, asylum, etc etc. you have the whole overhead of tendering, contract award etc etc etc quite apart from anything else

as someone who works in the nhs (mental health services).....i can honestly say that the last 10 years has destroyed it. too much is being sold off for cash (to pay for mp's 11%/expenses/fine dining/booze), all those who recently 'retired' are mysteriously still employed by the same trust (wasting millions of £'s) and things have reached breaking point. it is no longer safe to practice as a nurse, and many of my colleagues and i have ridiculous caseloads, no equipment or beds for patients and are simply waiting to be dragged in front of coroners etc. as a result of all the pressure. and we had to strike for a paltry 1% we were promised 4 years ago! i have moved into teaching and am so glad that clinical practice makes up so little of my time now - if i went too uni all over again, there is no way i would become a nurse or midwife.....the stress is simply too much. privatisation isn't the answer - it is the problem! the more the nhs turns to profit, the less patients and staff will be considered. it is as simple as that.

It's not the profit lcg, there's already plenty of hangers on and JAFFA's making money from bonuses, it's the targets that the rest of us have to bloody meet with dwindling beds.
Would that be the same Lord Ara Darzi who is Director of Ara Darzi Limited, and provides Private healthcare?

Well he would be in favour of feathering his own nest wouldn't he.
How not to run a health service.

- Contract serice out to lowest bidder.
- Lower bidder ends the contract because it is not making enough profit.
- Start process over again.

Perhaps that is why Circle Healthcare (Hinchingbrooke Hospital) were named?

The very same Gromit. I'm just wondering why the lefties on here aren't giving him the same amount of grief as they gave Farage, even though Farage didn't say any of the things the lefties attributed to him on that thread?
Chill,
Not sure he is worth the effort of any lefty defenders

- Never elected to anything under a Labour banner.
- Fast tracked into Lords and the seconded into the Labour Government.
- Very wealthy.
- Works for the Qatar Royal family.
- Last seen working for Boris Johnson.

Not your usual Labour Party member.
