The Political Spectrum
6 Answers
People often refer to the political spectrum as a straight line running from the far-left to the far-right, although I sometimes think of it as more of a horseshoe as bother far-left and far-right seem to share some common ideas- the Nazi's were after all a national socialist party.
Anyway, AOG's thread on the possibility of political power being gained in the UK by non-whites or those not of white British ethnic origin made me wonder where a party committed to Islam and Sharia law would sit on the political scale. Many policies would be regarded as far-right but I can't see them sharing the same arena as the BNP etc.

I don't know, but I'd imagine that we use the term because of the significance of the colours 'red' and 'blue' to Left and Right.
So the pesky old Sharia Government of the future will not only be shafting our religion and our Brirish way of life: they'll have robbed us of our 'spectrum' most likely too :-)

They range does seem to meet up at the back, where the elite wish to use their power over everyone to do as they say no matter how extreme. It's just what they insist on that differs. But both want total obedience. Actually that may be the same throughout the spectrum, it's just how much the elite feel confident to inflict.
Politics make for strange bedfellows. The "enemy" of one's "enemy" is regarded as a sort of "friend" for now, as and when it suits. Differing ideologies can still both campaign & vote against some sane democratic suggestion, provided one ever gets made.

Extremists on either end are tw4t5, and that's pretty much all you need to know. As old geezer points out, they want to impose their will by force, it's just what they want to impose that differs.
It usually involves their leaders living in a big palace and everyone else either following their orders or being imprisoned/killed though, so it's probably more of a complete circle that a horseshoe.

'They' will always use Labels to their own advantage, be they political or religious.
They want to confine 'the narrative/dialogue' within the parameters 'They' define and can control/manipulate factor-fiction, and it works well; just read the comments on this thread and many others in this 'News' section to see the effective result... true, successful 'dumbing down' from change.
wolf63, 'The Political Spectrum' is only a disease if you swallow their conditioning medicine.
'Their' medicine starts from birth and some people continue swallowing it all their life.

ichkeria, I think "spectrum" is used to mean that parties aren't just discrete blocks scattered around, they are all on the same continuum and can change their positions on it (for some years most have been sliding towards the centre).
But the centre itself shifts; after the war it was what would now be called left of centre as everyone agreed the state they'd been fighting for ought to take more care of its citizens; hence setting up the NHS.
