I rent a property which is in the process of being sold (buy to let). The "new" owner had an electrician look at the property. The letting agent usually asks me me for permission for people to enter the property, however, this time they let this electrician loose with the key! He interfered with my tv and video and left things unlpugged and switched off. Any advice on grounds for complaint. TIA.

You need to look at your tenancy agreement and see what it says about access. Normally, access is only supposed to be given (other than in an emergency) after you have had notice.


When you know what your agreement says you can complain to the agent & - if not satisfied with their response - to the present owner.
well you have an implied right to exclusive possession

and as themas has said you need to re read your tenancy agreement.
Most allow access on notice, and some will allow access in an emergency without notice and there will also be bits about showing around later tenants

I think you can really only complain as it doesnt really sound as tho you have suffered loss [ saying you want a few thou because you have missed episode 4 of engrenages is not really a goer ]
