Retro Games Eg Gorf And Galaxian

My friend is turning 50 and I would like to buy him a gift of being able to play some of his favourite arcade games from yesteryear!

However I do not game at all and have no clue where to start. Do I need to buy a games console eg xbox/playstation or can you get them to play on a laptop? And am I able to buy the old joystick type handsets that used to be used for playing some of them?

I don't mind doing some research myself but I just don't really know where to start. So any help to point me in the right direction would be much appreciated.

What does in-browser mean Stephen? Does it mean going to a website to play online? Can you use the old joystick handsets to play? Sx
