Paypal Fees for Relisted Item

I put an item on ebay under 'buy it now' to post to UK only. A buyer won the item who had only been an ebay member for 1 day. The next day I had a message on ebay saying the member is now unlisted. I then had a direct email from the buyer asking for shipping fees to post the item to Nigeria and he also asked for my bank details to pay directly into my bank. Obviously I have not given any bank details out and im not going to send the item. Basically my question is do I still have to pay the ebay / Paypal fees and am I within my rights to relist the item, as the buyer sounds rather dodgy?

Thanks in advance for any help.

You could have offered it to the 2nd highest at their bid price as a second chance offer without incurring relisting fees if you reported it to Ebay as an obvious scam.

Also if you keep a close eye on your auctions, you can block any obvious scammers to avoid this situation arising.

Ebay and virtually every Ebay user are aware of the Nigerian element. This man has a unique way of dealing with them.

You only pay PayPal fees if you receive money into your PayPal account.

You need to do the Unpaid Item Dispute which will refund your final value fee. When that is completed you can relist the item.

If it sells your original listng fee will be refunded, so you will not be out of pocket.

This is an excellent forum for all things eBay and PayPal:
