National Anthem

Watching that young boy belt out our National Anthem at
the rugby set me wondering how many other countries glorify
the leader ( I.e Our Monarch) rather than their country?

i agree although i respect the queen and have little regard for her children, i believe that william is a good, honourable man. our national anthem is an embarrassment.you see the welsh and french anthems being belted out then you see us praising a largely irrelevant lady. the anthem does not reflect anything of the history of england. i am bored silly by the band that attends english football matches. this is systematic of our moribund system. our government system is back in the 17th century.some idolise thatcher yet she did nothing to stop the child abuse.

Flower of Scotland beats them all! Actually I like all the 6 Nations anthems except Englands

I am astonished that there has not been more people who
see how absurd it is to sing in praise of an individual rather than, as
other countries do, their fatherlands.

When you hear Le Marseilles, Star- Spangled Banner, Advance
Australia Fair, O Canada etc the emphasis is on love of country
not the longevity of Monarchs.
