Why don't we hear more about the prosecution of Falung Gong?
Living in NYC I encountered several groups protesting. Everyday you see people with large pictures of the torture and death that Falung Gong people are being subjected to, simply because of Meditating!!!!! It's just a type of meditation!! Thousands of people have been killed. It's disgusting and evil what we are allowing these people to go through. There needs to be more news coverage on this topic.
I can understand why we don't here about one tenth of what goes on to women and children in the middle east. The middle east is not welcoming to us, by any means, but there is no reason why we can't get into China to report this and interview people who have been persecuted. The world needs to stop this.

This practice started not even 20 years ago.
I just dont think countries should allow other countries to murder their citizens. We always just sit in the side-lines. I don't understaned this way of life? When and why did learn to divide ourselves and mind our own business? We need to think of the world as ONE, then things will get better. But if we stay divided nothing in this world will improve. (and yes I do remember Tiananmen Sauare)
yes, The Falun Gong, the real thing, have sat outside the Chinese Embassy for years in protest.

about 1/3 way down the page. When my partner gets home I shall ask him if anything has been going on lately....
Not everyone sits on their butts hun, Amnesty do their bit, and honestly, if you can do a year of helping, and you do feel that you could, then go. It is a fabulous thing to help. Voluteers are needed in an awful lot of places.
I know that there is good in this world, its just a terrible feeling to be helpless. There is so much that goes wrong in this world that could be fixed fairly easily, but we make excuses for ourselves (when I say ourselves or us Im really refering to our governments). If their a 200,000 homeless people in NYC then lets just build homes for them. The mayor says well we can't afford it, -that's not excuse. Just get your head government people to build some damn apartment buildings and move on.
sorry for getting off topic.
I would love to volunteer and I should volunteer. I do perform for several charitys throughout the year but that's about it.
thank you Beryllium - I would love to hear more about it when you talk to your mate ;)
I agree people should be allowed to follow whatever religious or pseudo religious beliefs they choose dancealot13, but I don't think the Falun Gong can be viewed as merely a group of people enjoying meditation.
They are recognised as a cult with 'mesmeric' leadership issues and have been accused of racism and bigotry. The leadership despises mixed race relationships and are none too pleasant to the children of said relationships. They also condemn gays and lesbians as evil people.
As for the Chinese governments subjugation of people of faith, you only have to look at their mistreatment of Buddhists in Tibet for the last fifty years to see how little the rest of the world cares about the actions of powerful governments.
Drusilla- Just to point out, honestly, most religions look at people who are homosexual, as evil or commiting a sin. Mixed marriages goes right along with that. Of course Im not saying I agree by any means, Im just pointing that out.
I have read quite a bit about Falun Gong and I have never read anything to the effect that your discussing, but I will continue to study it further.
Either way, for the government to ritaliate against these people by burning, torturing, raping, hanging, etc.....That is just horrible. And the fact that we just let it happen, is terribly heart breaking.
Me again. I thought I ought to offer at least one site that presents the racist argument. You will also find such information in Wikipedia.

I think this has been an interesting question and I have certainly read up on the subject more thoroughly. Thank you for promoting my interest.
Gee, dancealot, forgive me, but I'm confused. You say "I don't think countries should allow other countries to murder their citizens. We always just sit on the sidelines", which I took as your advocating intervention, perhaps militarily, with China's suppression of Falun Gong. Naturally, I assumed you approved of doing the same in Iraq and Afghansitan. But you say "Bush is the devil"... unique concept...
By the way, Iran has the third largest oil reserves in the middle east, ahead of Venezuela but only half of what the U.S. produces. If the U.S. profited so greatly, oil wise, from the Irag invasion, why did oil sell for $75 a barrel today? Why are the Iraqi's in charge of their own oil production and in charge of its sale on the open market?
Bush is trying everything he can with anyone that will listen in Europe, China and Russia to diplomatically work out something on Iran's very real nuclear threat, in my opinion...
Clanad- If you agree with Bush then Im sorry you have been misinformed. Im completely against war and violence, so I didn't mean to imply that we go into china and attack. I just meant that we need to find away to stop countries from hurting their people. Most of the human race simply cannot comprehend a world without violence. But I know it is possible.
As far as Iraq goes, Bush wants to have controle over oil, and he profits from everything! The US profiting and Bush profiting have very little to do with oneanother.
