Oramorph And Moods
3 Answers
My dad is 82 and has been in hospital for almost a week with an infection following a bleed on the knee. Although obviously feeling unwell his mood has been quite upbeat. Gone to visit today and he is doing nothing but cry. I have NEVER seen my dad cry, he is very old school and was wondering if it could be anything to do with Oramorph that they started him on yesterday as he says he doesn't know why he's crying or more likely to be that he's just really down. TIA

Have read of the above link, mood changes are included but it also says that it is to be used with caution in the elderly.
Hopefully one of the AB Medics will be along later.

Might be..........might not be..........doubt it.
He is behaving how many old people behave when they are taken out of their "comfort zone" and placed in unfamiliar surroundings such as in a hospital and of course an active infection may exacerbate their "confusion."
