I had some food trapped round my tooth, upper back and i pulled it out, crab actually, a strand of it. Since Wednesday the gum next to it has been red and sore. The pain has spread a little now to my teeth at the front. Ive taken ibuprofen and put oil of cloves on it. It seems like it will never heal as ive obviously been eating and drinking. Do you think i need antibiotics? Thank you

Phone an emergency dentist and make an appointment . Only a dentist can tell you and prescribe if necessary.
\\\Do you think i need antibiotics?\\\

You might.

Two choices...a) give it another 48 hours.b) Try and get some antibiotics today.

Your choice.
might there still be some food trapped there? I find it only takes a little bit caught between teeth to nudge all the teeth in the row a llittle and make them all hurt. Try flossing carefully if you haven't already. If there's nothing then call your dentist as Eddie suggests (he might work Saturdays; mine does).

I havent got a dentist and cant afford it this month. Its just a gap that has been created and not closing together as i keep eating on it. My only chance is to go to the doctors this morning and ask for antibiotics as my prepayment certificate runs out on Monday.

I dont think theres any food trapped there now, its a crown by the way.
Dentists take a credit card.

Don't have any credit cards as not working.
If you're not working then why not claim on the NHS?
I missed this bit "My only chance is to go to the doctors this morning and ask for antibiotics as my prepayment certificate runs out on Monday." Sorry.

If it runs out on Monday you can still use it on Monday. I wouldn't wait till then though. Just call 111 and ask for the nearest local NHS dentist and explain your current issues. They will find the nearest place that is able to do the work on your tooth today, not on Monday.

My hubby supports me and i cant claim hence why i have a prepayment certificate. . Im going to try and get in the local in the local doctors, was just wondering if i needed antibiotics. Thank you.
Get some peroxide from the chemist and gargle with it according to instructions. Give it 24 hours still taking pain control if needed. You may or may not need help , peroxide will stop a lot of simply infection. If you haven't used it before , ask the pharmacist for advice.
I agree, go and ask the pharmacist, you might have broken the gum in tugging the food out. Cordosyl mouthwash usually fixed it for me when I have gum soreness (which I do, often).
Rinse mouth out with Oraldene. It's for mouth and throat infections and is very effective.
Our doctors wont give out antibiotics for anything to do with teeth. They just tell you to go to the dentist.

Thanks for all your help. Couldnt get in at the doctors as dont do walk ins, thanks! And it was empty! A nice pharmacist recommended salt water and anbesol. She didnt think i needed antibiotics. I am on the triage list for a call from the doctors first thing Monday morning so will see how i go. Im just having soup and milkshake through a straw today, one way of losing weight!
