So sad to hear the passing of one of the great rowing coaches of all time. Will always be remembered for helping Oxford win the 1987 Boat Race after the famous mutiny. Will miss his unrivaled commentary and comments.

I second that, sad to hear of his passing.
Whilst never a huge fan of rowing I was no doubt one of the throng who took an interest whenever our boys and girls were doing the business over the last couple of decades and his commentary was always well informed but enthusiastic and patriotic, without being jingoistic.
