I really like peppery pork pie. What's your favourite pork pie? Mine is from Walter Smith butchers, but they may just be local (although I know of 2 outlets round here).

My local butchers sell spectacular pork pies, cannot compare them to anything else. When buying from a supermarket, I choose the Branston pickle pork pies - I choose the healthiest of food for breakfast!
I'd give those a try, mandimoo. But I've just checked and the nearest Walter Smith butchers is around 10 miles away from me :-(
Again locally I think, in Stockport we have Tittertons' pork pies which are excellent. English mustard MUST be there with them though.
It's got to be Melton Mowbray from a butchers in MM, they really do have the edge, supermarket pies just don't cut the mustard!
I rarely have on these days (trying to lose weight and all that) but I have found that I don't tend to enjoy them as much as I used to. It's the pastry, always seems too greasy now. I think over the years it's become an issue for me as I don't have such fatty food these days.
We had a local butcher who made the most delicious pork pies on the premises. When they came out of the oven the staff would not serve them until the jelly had set. Alas he retired and took his secret recipe with him.
O-G...I can't stomach the pastry either. I find it sickly. Pork pies are on my list of foods I only eat if I'm about to die of starvation.
Im not keen on the pastry much either. The one they sell on supermarkets deli counters is nice though. Its sliceable and has an egg in the middle.
The one im thinking of is made bt Walls..That way, you dont get so much pastry.
Sussed that pastrywise. Love the filling.
I like all pork pies, especially with a tin of baked beans :-)
I even love the pastry and the jelly!!
We have two fairly local butchers who make excellent pies, but the best I've ever tasted were made by an old boy now sadly deceased who was a retired Butcher who kept his hand in by making the pork pies at Christmas he had no family to follow in his footsteps and like jackdaws butcher he took his secrets to the grave.
