I have only been and scratched mine ! How on earth I managed to , I don't know. Is it worth trying to see if they are salvageable? Or do I write them off?

demand your money back under the Trades Description Act?
Surprised you notice the scratch when focused on something further away. No lens is non-scratchable. Scratch resistant maybe. Can you fill the scratch with Vaseline or something to make it less noticeable ?

I spent hours yesterday jno trying to clean them, only for Mr flump to declare them scratched!
I think scratches can be removed at the optician!

jno. Clearly all lenses are capable of being scratched, but some are scratch "resistant" I'm not sure if anybody actually claims that their lenses are actually scratch proof.
if they were sold to you as non-scratch and they aren't, someone's defrauded you, and I'd invite them to replace them or face being sued all the way up to the Supereme Court! (If you've got time on your hands and a cheap lawyer.)
non-scratch is the standard phrase, Ratter, and mine have always been sold to me on that basis. (I don't have flump's expertise in scratching them)
//a cheap lawyer// I think further clarification may required on this!!
You can buy plastic polish which might remove the scratch, depending how deep it is. Look on Amazon, a caravan dealer (used for cleaning caravan windows) or a car accessories shop (used for re-polishing plastic headlamp covers). I got some from Halford's to take a scratch out of a watch glass.
I think the scratch-resistant coating is really only meant to stop the lenses getting very fine, shallow scratches which you can create by normal cleaning.
lol, flump would probably have to get a defrocked one
Just to agree with Ratter; something I realised I'd not put in my last post. Your optician should be able to help. Either by replacing any coating making the lens scratch resistant, or worst comes to worst, getting the lens reground. Sounds costly unless it is bothering you though.
I have never actually had non-scratch lenses or scratch resistant lenses. I have also never scratched the lenses either, I'm careful :-)

That's fate well and truly tempted!
How long have you had them, are they not guaranteed.
