TY, woofgang. I'll get some seed potatoes and give them a try.
I use 12" plastic pots to grow 1st earlies on my allotment. I start them off in a poly-tunnel and i'm usually picking them 2 weeks before anyone else.
I love tub growing potatoes, its such easy gardening. Last year i did sweet potatoes from slips as well. The crop was small because I crammed too many together but they were delicious.
Last year I put in about 70 seed potatoes outside in the ground and a further 6 in builders buckets, like melv in my poly tunnel.
The best results by far were the ones grown in the buckets, they looked to good to eat, but that didn't stop us.
When you get your first potatoes of the year and boil them up with a bit of fresh mint, you know the growing season has started !

We are still eating the main crop that were grown the ground.
