Nuisance Phone Call Scam

Further to several threads I have read on here..

There is a scam going on now where someone calls, saying they are from TPS at BT... offering to cut all nuisance calls for a one off payment of just £3.

A friend was so pleased to think it was going to stop these calls he "paid" with his bank card there and then.

Immediately his wife checked it out with a daughter.....a dash to the bank and card was stopped before any damage was done.

I warned several other friends to find they had either had the call, or knew someone who had...

Never give your card number on line....to anyone.

Goodness I had that, but it was around £40
I think so they could definitely stop the calls. The man (English) got very irate when I refused to pay. I thought it was genuine though.
