Ab Editor, I agree dementia is a disease of the brain and not a part of getting old, however it is usually associated with old age, however many very young people get dementia. The fact is the older we get the more susceptible we become to dementia. I am really associating it with the elderly here as that is the subject I know more about of which this thread is concerned with.

This idea of head transplants freaks me out. Would you be you with a new body, or you with a new head, personality and memories? It's not something I'd consider.
