my partner and I have been completing prize crosswords for some twenty years i.e. since before easy access to google, etc. We enjoyed finding the answers at our local library, etc.
Even when we got our laptop and accessed google and answerbank we continued to do the crosswords even though we knew there was only a small chance we would win.
However it is evident since the advent of the "i" input and the multiple entry opportunities that we are now truly wasting our time.
We have sadly decided enough is enough, no more Mos or Sunday Express.
What do we do now?
i gave up posting solutions years ago. the chance of winning anything from say the mail is zero if you live north of the watford gap! these days i just do them for the thinking and the warding off of parkinson's desease. by the way i hate the "new" puzzles section of the MOS.
I used to enjoy crosswords more before we could "google" everything, all my birthday & xmas prezzies I would ask for reference books and when they failed it was off to the library on a Monday, miss all that.
Now, some people on here cant even be bothered to google they put the question straight on here, lazy lot.
Only yesterday did I start entering by counting the Is, I have always posted the grid. However I often forgot to post it for a couple of days and the dehli e is only the following Friday so I'm glad of the Ispy text option. Incidentally I have won four of the MOS puzzles in the last couple of years, just waiting for the biggy, the Prize.
Quote from Poppy Hall, PA to Man Ed & dep Ed MOS
"Following on from Email regarding how the winners are chosen
I can confirm that all postal text and phone entries are counted and recorded independently. Then all counts combined for the draw so all have equal chance of winning. No prioritisation is given to entries via premium rated phone line or text. Postal text and phone entries have an equal chance of winning"
This was after the first reply said they were "lumped together" which I wrote back saying lumped together was no answer.
