GameBoy Batteries

The instructions for the Gameboy Advance say do not use rechargeable batteries. But, you can buy rechargeable units for the GB that contain a pair of NiCads. Can someone tell me, please, why you shouldn't use an ordinary pair of size 'AA' NiCads? I can't get any sensible answers from the manufacturers or from the shops on this.

Not sure if there is a Techincal reason but its normally down to the fact that Manufacturer can not be accountable for problems with the device if you use the wrong equipment. For example your not supposed to use non-sony memory cards with a playstation. Lets say for example they said you could use anything you like, you then buy a �2 set of batteries from the market and the go a bit funny and leak all over the device and kill it. They would them be liable as they said you could use what you liked. Its really them saying this is how it works and if you dont follow this any thing that happens is your fault.

Money.....how much does a set of "AA's" cost for a GB then.....and how quickly does it eat through them? Of course they don't want you saving money by using rechargeables....Wouldn't suprise me in the least to find that Duracell and Nintendo are all part of a bigger company or are at least tied in somehow.
