Opera Browser

I have recently changed from Firefox to Opera as F/F was constantly 'not responding'. I don't find Opera as clear, but hopefully will get used to it but I have lost my toolbar on it, can anyone tell me how to get it back please?

oops, sorry about that, which put me off it. Things seem to have settled down now since the change, mainly have to wait for programs to close for a little while and it does seem to be a bit slower than usual, I must say that I prefer F/F tho. Thank you for replying -rosy

You can have as many browsers as you wish. At the moment I am using Opera which I downloaded last Saturday to see if I could establish what you required. Top marks to SlackAlice for having provided the best answer.

I am Not too keen on Opera (the Browser) and shall revert to using Firefox. Nevertheless, I shall leave Opera in my Computer as an alternative; along with SeaMonkey; Safari; Internet Explorer; and my all time favourite...Firefox.

Always download from official sites because nasties can come along with
genuine items from 'Agency' sites.

Speaking of browsers I much prefer Waterfox, the firefox for 64bit computers

@hc....I agree if one has a 64bit OS. However, I think you will find that the majority of AB folk will be operating on 32 bits. Interestingly, it took a long while for computers to progress from 16 to 32 bits. 10 years (from 1985 to 1995) to get a 32-bit operating system.......or so I have read. The further 10th year has arrived, so perhaps now we all need to be operating on 64 bits before 128 bits become the norm.

Wow I am overwelmed with all the replies I have, thanks everyone.

I only have 4 ext. but when I looked in 'start up' I have Intel R (com) THREE times?) Do I disable two of them please? I also have:-
Synaptics pointing device driver (mouse?)
Realtek HD Audio manager
Power Management
Microsoft Security Client
My winlocker suite
Acer backup launch manager.

so do I do anything about these please? sorry if I appear a bit of a numpty but I did say I'm not very PC literate. Thank you Hans for the f/f link, I have installed set up 36 it was like seeing an old friend :0) -fingers crossed -rosy

You can certainly disable Winlocker and Acer Back up Launch Manager from the start up.

As you now have Firefox up and running, it might be worthwhile doing a test of your Broadband Speed. :-

Thank you Hans, I did the speed test and am getting 10.46Mbps download and 0.95 upload with BT.
Can you (or anyone) tell me if I have to disable two of the Intel R (whatever it is) I mentioned I had in 'Start up' please? TIA rosy

If your machine is booting up okay I would be loathe to disable anything in Start Up that I don't fully understand what it does.
I believe that each of your Intel R (com) has different suffixes. Can you widen the box to confirm that?
For example, one may be followed by igfxtray.exe; the other by igfxpers.exe

If that is the case, leave well alone. They are needed to run your machine properly.

Only disable things in the Start Up that you are sure won't affect the start up of the pc, such as Skype, printer managers, dropbox - the programs you can start if and when you want them.

Thank you for that hc, you are quite right, they do have different suffixes, I am glad that I asked first. My laptop is running o.k. now and of course I have the tool bar back with f/f so for the moment I am a happy bunny, thanks to all who helped me X -rosy
