Charges for not paying by DD

Hi

I'm being charged for not paying a bill by dd, it was �2.00 a month and its now gone upto �4.00. I don't want to pay by dd as a) i don't trust the compnay to collect the right amount and B) they cannot offer me a suitable date for collection. I pay my bills promtly each month and I'm never in arrears. Is there anything i can do about this charge as I don't think its fair.

NTL - phone,internet digi tv and if you have any experience of NTL you'll know why i don't want to give them my bank details!

ntl have been exactly the same with me so i cancelled the direct debit and started paying with my card they then sent a bill for 400 pound and said we had'nt made any payments and told me that the card was then rejected (not declined the money was there) i am now paying off the bill and looking for another company to move to

Ah NTHell! They are an absolute nightmare. Their service itself is fine but as soon as you try and do anything administratively aaaaaagggggghhhhh!

You have my sympathy, all I can suggest is pay what you owe and move to another supplier.

io'm on the case, i'm thinking freeview for the tv but not sure who go with for phone and BB, any suggestions?

I use NTHell for phone and internet. Whist I would have agreed with loosehead a couple of years back I haven't had any problems recently.

Pay everthing by DD. You do have some protection paynig by DD, speak to your bank they should be able to help put your mind at rest.

Moving to another company is probably not the answer. Most operate this sort of scheme, if they dont at the minute I'm sure they soon will in the future.

For phone and broadband you will find it difficult to beat Carphone Warehouse - if they are operating in your area - sadly not avaialble in my area!

I guess it is like most things - you pay for what you get. The companies who charge you more tend to have better custeomr services (not always I know).

NTL are cheap - both in products and services

You are not being charged for not paying by DD. DD customers get a discount.

As for ntL I just love them. I have TV, phone and internet from them and have no real complaints - they charge me less for Sky than Sky would.

When I moved house they accidentally gave me PremPlus for free for last season even though I hadn't renewed it and when I complained about their 3 for �30 promotion only being available to new customers they gave me that as well so I now get a �17 discount every month.

Must agree though that when you phone them it's usually a numpty that answers the phone.
