Flooded Council Land
My garden backs onto council land - a grass access path to a cemetery and some allotments. About six months ago I noticed the area of the pathway directly behind my property had become saturated and was ankle-deep in mud. Having periodically checked the area over the winter, the water has remained. While in the garden at the weekend, I notice I now have a small, constant stream of water running off the lawn and under my patio (from the direction of the pathway), while the lawn itself is permanently boggy, which it never has been before. I have spoken to the Town Council who are aware of the issue, suggesting a new spring has just risen under the pathway, but saying there's little they can (or will) do. I am a little concerned about the idea of water running freely under my patio towards my house in case it undermines the foundations or has another similarly undesirable effect. Any suggestions folks? Can I take matters further with the Council?
