When i am sent a photo attached to a text message it comes through as a mms. Can anyone tell me why this is? I've got a samsung phone. Thanks.

Because sms is text only. MMS (Multi Media is text and photo's (jpeg etc).

Please note mms messages very often are not classed as part of your 'free sms' allowance and will be charged for.

That makes sense. But why does it look like a 5 second video?
If you include an attachment then that isn't text, it is a different form of media, and so uses the MMS system to send the whole thing.

I have no idea why it should be identified and viewed as if it were a video. Are you sure that is what is occurring ? What is the file extension on the file you are sending ?
