Bombings in Egypt

I am due to go on holiday in Egypt next month. Would I be able to cancel my holiday and get a refund in light of the bombings?

contact your travel agent and see what advise the goverment are giving regarding holidays in that part of the world,im sure you would be able to cancel and book somewhere else.why you booked to go there in the first place i dont know,its a regular target for these nutters,dident you know that.

Egypt is a fabulous place to see.

Personally I'd still go - Norman doesn't sound like he has a very good sense of perspective.

I don't know about you but I still go to London after last years bombings - I think you're more likely to be at risk from the food!

But if you really must pull out, look at the terms of your travel insurance, some only allow a complete refund if government travel advice changes to advise against travel to a country or region.

jake the peg,my view is based on the fact that these idiots target tourists hotels as their main targets,and i think its reasonable to assume that that will be their next target also

I wouldn't cancel, I have a villa in Sharm el Sheikh, the resort targeted last year. Security has been increased so much in this particular resort. Egypt is a fantastic country and the people are very friendly, like jake the peg says, London, Manchester, you can be a target anywhere these days, why live in fear.

My view is based on Egypt getting 6.4 Million visitors a year.

I don't think I'd cancel my holiday based on odds of 100,000 to one against being killed by terrorists.

to be honest jake, I suspect most people would be doubtful about going on holiday anywhere they had to weigh up the possibility of being killed, and that may well include London. There are, after all, plenty of places where the risks are nil; why lie on Egyptian beach worrying when you could be on a Spanish one or an Australian one without a care? That's what holidays are for. Personally, I'd go to Egypt, but I wouldn't laugh at those who don't.

I went to egypt in June last year, and was back home a few weeks before the July bombings. I booked to go back again next month. Im going to go and have a great holiday there again!

You could lie on a Spanish beach without a care - and get bombed by ETA!

I work for a US company that a flew a load of us in to Spain on seperate planes - company policy.

Then they put us all in the same coach and drove us along a Spanish Motorway for 2 hours

I think ETA have given it up now jake, that's why I mentioned Spain. At any rate, they didn't target the tourist industry as many of the Egyptian attacks have done. So I can understand why Bearworld might feel nervous and I think it's a legitimate question, even though my answer is 'Go and enjoy yourself'.
