Hi all, thinking about going to Cyprus in September. Can anyone suggest the best areas, we want a quiet holiday. Which is best, north or south of the island? Thanks in advance :-)

I went with Cyprus Paradise about 6 years ago, and they were good then. The north is beautiful. We stopped at a stall at the side of the road to get fruit one day, and the woman made us have lunch with her - stuffed vine leaves and olives, gorgeous.
It was the best holiday ever.
As someone else said, don't let them stamp your passport. They'll stamp paper if you want them to, they're quite used to it. In the south, it is illegal to go to the north, that's why there is a problem with getting your passport stamped.

We also prefer Northern Cyprus. We travelled with Mosaic Holidays to Kyrenia and stayed at the Bellapais Monastery Village Hotel. It was Fantastic as long as you are able to climb steps as the complex is all little mini villas set. on a hillside. You can Google the Hotel and go on a Video tour.Bellapais village and Monastery is just up the road and full of tourists during the day but at night it is wonderful to go up to for a meal in various restaurants who will send a car or mini bus tofetch you and it is so peaceful.Cant wait to go again.
Hi missmu,
Hubby & I went to Protaras in the east of Cyprus last September - it was lovely - stayed at Tsokkos Beach Hotel (all incl - good food, good service, as one would expect) & would recommend this to anyone wanting a nice quiet holiday - great location, near to beaches, local shops, cafes, etc.

since the post was submitted there has been a major change in north Cyprus holidays. you can now travel to the north with non stop direct flights to Larnaca in the south. this has meant the flights are shorter and you can fly form your local airport. This company specialises in holidays with direct flights.. hence the name i guess.. http:// www.dir ecttrav eller.c om
