Why are you shocked, elina? The mice have been bred as food for various carnivors, these ones have now filled another role as an art form. I see no problem with this.

It's odd isn't it? we anthropomorphise animals all over the place - Art, Children's Books, Cuddly toys, Cartoons.

But as soon as a 'real' element is introduced it feels wrong.

I think it's because they're real, mamya. It's different. If I was dead, I'd rather be eaten than put in a museum with a guitar.
And that isn't a sentence I thought I'd ever type either :-)
