Physiotherapy Exercises After Surgery....
13 Answers
On Tuesday I underwent an acromioplasty in addition to supraspinatus muscle/tendon surgery.
I have been told to wear my sling in order for the joint to stabilise.....but I have also been given a range of exercises to ensure that the joint doesn't stiffen.
Trying some of these exercises causes the same 'clunks, clicks and pains' as I had pre-surgery.
I don't know whether I should be resting my shoulder for the while and getting into the exercise phase later or quite what, and naturally I don't want to undo the surgery by over-using the tendons before they have had sufficient time to heal.
I'd be grateful for any input on this.
Thanks in advance.

To me, that would be an unsatisfactory sequelae to the exercises and certainly undesirable form a prognosis point of view.
If it were me.......i would do finger exercise, wrist and elbow exercises and leave it at that for the following two weeks at least....certainly until i could tolerate life without the sling.

I thought Sqad had done most things including ortho...
Shoulder surgery is a bit of a specialised area which is why so many are posting 'dunno mate'. A co-worker who had shoulder surgery had a much more soft exercise regime than I had after a hip ( get up and walk damn you ! )
so I would ring the secretary of the orthopod what did the deed
or that hospitals physio department
[ I think they will go for softly softly - but they have your notes ! ]
