I orded the 4 disc edition(the one with the Golum) in July and bought a 44inch TV to watch it on.When the film arrived I was discusted to find that the dvd case looked second hand, the Golum bonus disk was scratched to death and to top it off ,my dvd player couldn't read the disks(as though it was a copy or that there was nothing on the disk.) When I went to buy another the woman in the shop said'sorry they sold out on the first day.In order to recieve one you should have pre-booked it' Am I the only fan to be dissapointed? Do's anyone know where I can write to complain?

If the goods are faulty, you are entitled to a full refund. Get one and buy it somewhere else (checked a few net retailers, and haven't seen any that are out of stock). BTW, apparently there is a problem with the Gollum statues that makes it difficult to remove from the packaging.
Maybe this is a bit unneccessary, but I bought the cheaper version (without the Gollum statue) from play.com for 23.99 and I am pleased with it. No problems.
Return back to the store you purchased this from and you are either entitled to your money back or an exchange - You will need a reciept as the company will need proof of purchase but other than that they have to replace the item!
I was under the impression that you don't need a receipt if the goods are faulty - can anyone confirm?
As far as i know, You do need a receipt(Which shows you actually bought it there), And if the items are unsatisfactory, the vendor must give you a full refund. See citizens advice if you get no joy
Technically you don't need a receipt to return faulty goods but proving that you purchased the goods from that retailer is then impossible. Some places will only give a credit note or gift vouchers with no receipt.
Make sure that the discs were correct for your region also. DVD's for play in Region 1 (US & Canada) won't play in machines encoded for other areas.
