What gets me is, if these people are so set against capitalism why dont they go and live in a country like China or Russia that would be nearer their ideals?
I know most are idle scum on the old rock and roll and they would have to work in a non capitalist country but they cant have it both ways

If you think there's something wrong with your telly, you're not accused of being anti-electronics; something wrong with your car? Does that make you anti-engineering? Not happy with your child's schooling? Are you anti-education?
But if you criticise any element at all to do with the way that global capitalism operates, you must be anti-capitalist.

A few burning cars is nothing compared to the havoc that the ECB inflicts on everyone else with the exception of France and Germany.

Gromit, please explain how:
most are idle scum on the old rock and roll translates to: Anti-capitalists are all unemployed.
blank translates to : The European Central Bank is a fine upstanding institution with British citizens' wellbeing at the core of its objectives.
And why you feel the need to mention China twice. I still disagree. China is no way a capitalist country, it is still pretty tightly reigned by communist leaders. Google it. Not gone yet.

I’m convinced that most of these protesters, never having witnessed first-hand life under Socialist or Communist regimes, are living in some sort of idealistic Cloud Cuckoo Land. They never seem to ask why so many of these systems have collapsed - and conclude that they couldn’t have been so attractive after all. Very odd.
// being in no position to demand anything. //
They demanded more money on account of the fact they'd run out of it, and should have the right to keep spending at the rate they'd always been used to. Also they demanded the right not to pay back any of what they'd already borrowed due to the fact that this would mean they'd have less money than if they didn't pay any back.
Also they demanded the right to get really angry about everything and blame other people for everything, and for good measure threw in a demand that their prime minister should be allowed to wear stupid jackets with the collar turned up.
It all seems perfectly reasonable.

naomi who are these " so many of these systems have collapsed" ?
Misapprehension rife in this thread with many thinking that either the original Greek bankers bailout or the money needed to now bail out those who bailed out the banks was ever intended to go to the Greek people... and this is completely ignoring the fact that the original bank loans were in fact fraudulently machinated by US banks in the first place.
ymb, you are conflating State supported capitalism and capitalism though you may not know the difference.... just as most do not have a clue what Communism even is:
