How Can I Find Funding For Hgv! Artic Training?
7 Answers
I am sorry if this question has been posted before but I really need to know the answer to this. I currently hold a full manual HGV2 (Rigid) licence but want to upgrade to a full HGV1 Artic one. I can not afford to do this myself but would like to know if there are any companies who can sponsor me through the full cost of this training. I would, of course, be willing to stay with them afterwards for a minimum of 2 years, if not more.
I can start work at once and have got no family ties.
Many thanks in advance for any replies, fellow ABers.

You need to contact your local companies and ask them if they would be prepared to put you through your training to upgrade to full HGV status and sign on with them for a minimum period to be arranged between you and them. Another way might be to ask at your local job centre to see if they know of any schemes where you could train. You need to do some homework yourself to see what is available. You say you have no ties, does this mean that you are prepared to look away from your local area. There is only so much advice you can get. The rest is down to you.
As an Ex Class one Jonny, think before you go for your Class 1, a lot of the time a rigid can pay more that a Class 1, as you know with a rigid unless you are on a Wagon & Drag with an Artic you may have been away for 2>>3 Nights then back to the Yard, drop your Trailer pick up another then back down the road, as said the way tpo pay for this may be Family / Bank, family would be the cheapest, then you have the CPC + the Card, the time I had was good as there was not the Bull S that drivers have today, you have no respect for your Job as everyone is trying to either Book you / Rob You / but if you do decide to go for it be careful of some company's trying to get you to run bent, if you are caught after a few times, the DVLA can withhold your licence make no mistake about that, not personal experience but knowledge about the job, I would not run bent for no company, good luck what ever road you choose.
