She wasn't 'only a budgie' - you obviously cared for her very much and took care of her when she was ill, she was family. I don't know much about birds but I do know that once they become ill it can be very hard for the vet to diagnose and treat them. It is always sad when a family member dies. Thinking of you at this sad time.

So sorry to hear about your wee budgie, they are such lovely little things.
I've just asked Mr. C about diabetes in budgies (we used to rescue them and at one time had around 100) and he says it's not impossible but would be very difficult to diagnose.
Don't know if you do cyber hugs, but here you go anyway.....(((HUG)))

Diabetes can occur in birds but it is quite rare and of a different type that mammals get.
There is a very good article on this here.....

Hi there: condolences on your loss. In the past we've had an African Grey, and occasionally needed to take him/her to the vet ... some vets are definitely more used (and definitely more knowledgeable) to birds than others ... try and find one that tends to 'specialise' in birds. Sorry, if this heartfelt advice is a little late ...
Birds are developing the illness, and for many bird lovers. The hormonal disorder, Diabetes, occurs in birds that are obese and have problems in the pancreas and reproductive organs. The same occurred in a human body so use natural Ayurvedic medicine for diabetes that would be good.
