I haven't posted this under 'Gaming' because it isn't a question on how to play.

I play Scrabble with total strangers via Facebook and I enjoy it. The problem is that as I don't know the person I am playing against I won't use strong swear words in case I am playing a child. I think twice about using other 'adult' words.

Am I being overly sensitive?

Not in my opinion. You're being polite. Same with sense of humour, you need to know your audience.

:)
I feel your concern, hc. I'm constantly surprised at words that the official Scrabble dictionary allows.

I once scored 70 points with "********" (my asterisks) ;o)

I pretend I'm playing against my gran
lol... I'm the same hc..

(I play "Words with Friends" rather than scrabble)
One only has to be 13 years of age to sign up to facebook, although I'm sure younger ones get on there anyway. When playing a random game, I am quite careful. I also turn off the chat function, as i have no interest in a conversation, just a good game of scrabble. When I play against friends (online or at home) I will play any legitimate word that suits my ojective (scoring points, blocking etc).

Although I agree that parents should monitor their childs internet usage, I'd imagine that if they saw them playing scrabble they'd be quite content and not watch over them, so no, you are not being overly sensitive.

I don't know anything of Words With Friends
I prefer it to Scrabble hc..

It's on Facebook you could do a search for it

Will do
nooo, scrabble is much more tactical than words with friends, which I'm sure you'd be bored of within a few days
If you find it and fancy a game let me know x
How does that work then AC? It's basically the same game, so depends on who you are playing surely?
I play Scrabble as well and would never use any word which could cause offence to my opponent. Just not necessary
