I have received an email purportedly from TFL informing me that my oyster card is no longer valid, and needs to be re-imbursed with the credit I have on it. I am suspecting that this is a scam.
Is it addressed to you personally, jamesnan? Do you have an Oyster Card and is there any reason to think it may no longer be valid? Do they actually have your email address anyway? I'd hover over parts of the email and see whether they seem to link to non-TFL sites, and I'd also look at the headers. Or I'd just ring/call in to see TFL or go onto your online account
I had a similar email but since I hadn't used the Oyster card for a while it was an invitation to claim the unused credit and cancel the card. I ignored it as I want to keep the credit for future visits.
Could it be that like me, you hadn't used if for a while?
The oyster card has been used within the last 3 months, but was registered with an email address as well. I have checked the account, nothing is coming up as untoward, I still have the credit and intend to do nothing else about it, just delete the email.
