I just wish someone rather than Rod Stewart had brought out The Great American Song Book,Rod is fine in small doses,and the songs are fantastic but just too much of Rod,anyone else think like me?

It's mainly the many people who do like him that he's targeted the album at. Other singers are free to cover the same type of material and I think there are plenty who have already done so.

I loved Rod with The Faces, and his early career, his jack-the-lad image and his whole style.

With age and money has come a sort of smoothing-out of his rough edges, and appealing to people who seem to have smoothed out with age - and I am absolutely not one of those!

I'm a Rod Stewart fan but that Great American Song Book stuff certainly does not float my boat and no way would I buy any of those recordings.

I think there's room for any artist to record GASB material and Rod is as good any. He was one of the first in recent years and it was lovely to hear some of the old stuff again, not least, either, because he partnered up with some amazing artistes - Queen Latifah, Doug Webb and Arturo Sandoval to name just three.

I'd like to hear Seth MacFarlane sing some more of it, though.
