Exellent signal - limited connectivity?

At work, I connect to a wireless network. It connects, saying the signal is excellent, but that I have limited or no connectivity and that I can't access some network resources or the internet. How are the two things connected? And any suggestions as to how I can correct it?

I would not advise the above answer as the DNS/gateway info should be provided by the DHCP server (which I am guessing your work network has, if it doesn't then the IT man should be spoken to). I also assume you know the WAP/WEP keys needed to authenticate to a secure wireless network.
Thansk for your replies. Should have also added that the problem does not occur everytime I switch on the laptop. When I have the message, I can't access the Internet or share network resources i.e. printers or various network drives where info is stored . The wireless setting must be ok, as I can access the network at other times - when I get the same excellent signal, but can access the network. Could it be somehow connected to the wireless booster thingy not working properly?
BTW, I'm saying this bit very quietly - the wireless network is not encrypted.
