I had this problem a couple of weeks ago on sheets, pillowcases and bedspread. I just squirted Fairy Liquid on each stain and rubbed it in while items still dry. Then popped them into washing machine and not a mark on them when finished. FairyLiquid or Morning fresh washing up liquid will do it. Both very good for most stains and recommended by Which.
It should really come out with a wash with a decent Bio washing powder such a Ariel/Persil. Staindevils are good for spot stains, there is one for blood.

Most bedding will stand up to a 90 degree wash. You shouldn't need to do anything with it other than wash it. Unless it is specific material that won't then ignore my comment.
My husband kept having nose bleeds and I couldn't get the complete stains out, so I took some Sharpie pens and drew flowers round the outlines of the stains. They look a bit odd but they don't look like blood stains.
