What is the rest of the rhyme 'a pint of water weighs a pound and a quarter'

I don't know about the rest of this rhyme, but the American variant (where they have 16 fluid ounces in a pint) is "A pint's a pound the whole world round".

There isn't.

This was one of a series of mnemonics invented as part of the UK's 'Going Metric' campaign in the early sixties.

The others were :

"A metre measures three feet three
It's longer than a yard, you see."

and

"Two and a quarter pounds of Jam
Weighs about a kilogram"

They clearly worked as mnemonics, as I can remember them forty years later!
