Just googled 'cross-dressing' and got this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-dressing - Viola and Portia both cross dressed. Wikipedia is pretty good on most things as it is written by enthusiasts!

Sorry twiglet3! Not meaning to cast aspersions on your research!! I'll keep looking and see what I can find..... What did Shakespeare in Love show re Marlowe I know he died in it? Did they meet? Can't remember.....
according to some scholars, it's possible that Will actally worked with Marlowe on some of his earliest stuff...
