I Cannot Get Rid Of This Bloody Search Engine Grrrr !!! ( Ask.com)

using my hp chromebook for 1 year now, all was great, woke this morning to see this awfull ask.com serch engine has replaced google and it is on my home page and i cannot remove it.

HELP !!! plzzzz

you must have accepted it as a result of using website..unwittingly ..call up google and reset as home page ...

The most common way Ask gets installed is with the Java Update. By default the user must uncheck the Ask install each time they install an update.

Ask can be very difficult to remove. The fact that Java is bundled with this unwanted pest shows that Java and everything that runs on it is also rubbish.

Go to your Internet options and set Google as your default browser. If your getting Ask.com as your homepage change it to google.com.

ive went twice to my chromebook settings, put google as my default search engine but ask is still there ?

NB: That site is trustworthy but well known for its 'overkill' approach. I'd omit steps 3 and 5. (When installing the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, as per step 4, ensure that you deselect the pre-ticked option to take a free trial of the Premium version).
