My mousepad stopped working on the 26feb, and was advised to buy an independent mouse, which i did. Then out of the blue, my mousepad decided to work again. Is this strange?

It could be related to a Windows Update.

My sound device stopped working the morning after a Windows Update. It started working again one month later, exactly on the morning after the subsequent update.

Microsoft updates have been having more problems than usual recently. One month they updated something in Windows that was used by MS Office and it broke.

It got jealous and decided to start working.

Don't like those pad things anyway, forever brushing them unexpectedly with disastrous results. I think they are only there to annoy, and it is wise to disable them from the start.
