Just heard that the new Rebus book (the 20th) is due out in October. It's called Even Dogs in the Wild. Looking forward to that.

Mick, yes I agree. I LOVE, just LOVE Stuart MacBride's books. He's very very witty and you get a real" vision" of his characters.
Not quite so keen on Jardine's books. I've read quite a few of them but never really got into them. Skinner's tedious home life and family rather irritated me.
Have you read MacBride's latest, The Missing and the Dead?

Get Ian Rankin's newsletter to my inbox and am definitely looking forward to meeting Rebus again. Love Quintin Jardine's books too but find Stuart MacBride's harder to get into but have downloaded his latest on to my Kindle so will give him another try. Must keep an eye open for James Oswald, not a name I know.
I too enjoy Ian Rankin's books .
Don't like Quintin Jardine at all.
Have read a few Stuart McBride's books and do think he tells a good story, but I'm afraid his torture scenes ar a bit too gruesome for me....worse than Val McDermid's and she can be pretty graphic.
Love Christopher Brookmyre...laughs as well as murders.
