sowing very fine seeds

Has anyone got any good tips for sowing very fine seeds? Ours always come out too thickly sown to easily transplant, Thanks in advance.

in wilkinsons last year i bought a little disc thing with a long protruding part, like a tongue (hard to describe!) the top of the disc is covered in a clear cover and you can twist it and it has different sized holes and when you twist it you can release even small seeds very easily and evenly, this is a useless explanation but maybe they have them this year!

What works very well for me is a rubber topped eye-dropper. The kind you use to suck up liquid medication for children. I find them at our druggist. They suck up as much seed as you want and then they can be applied one at a a time to the desired ares...

Mix the seeds with fine silversand and then spread over the compost.

Works every time.

I've found the sand trick works as well, but the sand has to be very dry.

I do the sand thing too - and it helps you to see where you've sown!
