Our old Hotpoint is on its way out.

We're looking at Miele - don't mind spending a lot of money if it does the job.

I'd hate to have a machine I wasn't happy with, knowing it was going to last 20 years.

Does anyone have a Miele?

I have a Miele, about 11 years old and still going strong, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. I plan to eventually replace all my appliances with Miele.
Our second Miele in almost 40 years, we wouldn't buy anything else. Ours isn't all bells and whistles, it has the usual set of programmes, we always avoid extra electronics like the plague. Make sure it's installed exactly where you want it as they are so heavy to move.
My sister in law has had hers for 12 years and its never given a moments trouble.

She complained about the cost (about a £1000) but if it's lasted this long......
What's not to like ?
My Miele tumble drier and washing machine are as good as new after 16 years.

We must have had ours 10/12 years, it's moved house with us twice, no problems.
Our Miele washer is only three years old but has been a brilliant machine- I regard it as the Rolls-Royce of washers, it's so quiet. It WAS just on a grand...but came with 10 year (all-inclusive) warranty.
And Which? rate Miele as the most reliable brand of washing-machine...so, go for it!
I used to have one (unfortunately it stayed in the last house when we sold it) and I can highly recommend the brand
