Went to the pictures this afternoon to see Woman In Gold, very good it was too. Poor mini me cried most of the way through it, so don't think we'll be taking her to Auschwitz when we visit Krakow.

Having been there and I have to say its gruelling, I think everyone should go if possible. When I was there the visitors were mostly coachloads of German schoolchildren.

I'll go without her I think, it'll ruin her holiday if she goes.
How old is she?

I think that's old enough to go? At least the Germans have owned up to it all and are encouraging their children to go and see for themselves, I heard that the Japanese children are"nt taught about what their forebears did in the war and how they treated prisoners.
I really don't want to go to see Auschwitz, I've seen photos and the mere sight of the gates and the railway lines makes me freeze, it still appears to be a terrifying place.

When we visited Singapore we walked around the grounds of Raffles Hotel, where we sat for a while. A Japanese man came into the garden and walked around and approached us pointing to his camera, he wanted me to take a photo of him lounging in the rattan chairs that were dotted around. I got that overwhelming feeling that I re enacting the wartime POW's and I almost wanted to refuse. But I took a few of him. My father was there during WWII and it went through my mind if he was looking down at me think What The Funicular is she doing?
