Personalised Number Plates

I am looking to buy a personalised plate, I looked on the DVLA website and a few others that I found by googling \'personalised number plates\', and all I can find are ones that sell standard layout of letters and numbers.

I looked up private plates and I cannot find what I am looking for, a friend of mine has just 5 letters and I wanted to know where I could get such a plate.

max is 4 letters i think - even irish.
jersey have j & 4/5 numbers
he must have a 1 in it somewhere

Keep looking. Your friend's plate is a pre-Sep 2001 registration, the format of which from 1983-2001 was:

One letter (Year identifier)
One, two or three numbers, 1-999
Three Letters (Part of which denoted the region of registration.

If it just has one number following the first letter, it will therefore have 5 digits. It will have 1-3.

PS I have just had a look on the DVLA site for you - it has two sections, one for pre Sep. 2001 and one for Sept 2001 onwards, you need to use the former if you want a 5 digit reg.

NB This is all assuming you mean 5 characters, not 5 Letters! Or one of them is a 1 as GSR says

No need to spend money on a personalised plate, just drive like a complete idiot, cutting people up, refusing to give way, never indicating etc. and people will hold exactly the same opinion of you as if you did have one.

Private plate or personalised plate?

I have a private plate for my bike - it ends in DUC for Ducati.

But personalised plates (or prat plates as I prefer to refer to them) are, well, a bit wanky. I followed one sometime ago that had something like BJC as the final three letters, and just so it was clear that it was a prat plate, the guy had his full name (say, Bob Jim Clark) underneath.

What a plank.

Sorry cant help ypou in your thread but they are a good investment and its been recognised as so-my dad has 2 vintage bikes-1950's ans as much as he wins prizes for them as they are immaculate the plates are worth thousands-needless to say the bikes are more important :) (Panther and BSA -o and my bro has a Mike Hailwood replica Ducati-nice shout !!)

What looks stupid and makes me smile , are plates , where numbers are ' made' to look like letters , in order to spell a name .

I sold my ex's plate earlier this year thru RegTransfers (?). They seem to have a vast choice of cherished plates.
