Great answer sft42. I recently bought a system through richer sounds and their advice and service was superb. Regarding the wire, they suggested that since the amp and speakers were of a hight wattage, I should get thick cables - which has to make sense. Anyway, they were right - the sound is fantastic.
Thanks Dave.....Have to give a quick plug to Richer Sounds here....When I last bought a set of speakers from them around six months ago, I had no end of troubles with them....both boxes blowing the bass drivers ( a duff set at the origin apparently)....no problem they were taken back, a spare set loaned, and I was kept up to date with progress with a phone call once a week (it took a while to source the parts!) and was given a great welcome when I finally picked up my speakers....I can't recommend them highly enough for any proper audio needs.
Apparently it's all to do with the resistance of the wire and its capacitance along its length... thin bell wire will seriously inhibit the voltage pumping along to your speakers... My solution> Mains wiring... it's cheap, and carries voltage like you wouldn't believe... Just make sure the stripped wire is nice and shiny before connecting (nothing like some tarnished copper wire to worsen the effect)
